Getting to Pontiac Lake Recreation Area

Directions
Pontiac Lake is located in southeast Michigan 11 miles from downtown Pontiac, and 38 miles from downtown Detroit.

From US 23
From US 23 take M59 East towards Pontiac, Take this to Williams Lake Road and Head North (left) on Williams Lake Rd. About 1/2 mile further you'll see the main entrance on the left side of the road, you'll need to make a Michigan Left (in the turn around) and go in the main entrance. Once past the ranger booth, turn Right and head for the farthest corner of the large beach parking lot, this is the West Shelter Parking area. The trailhead is located in this corner, along with adn outhouse and in teh summer an open bathroom and running water.

From I-75
From 75 take M-59 West through downtown Pontiac (lots of construction right now) for about 9 miles west of Pontiac. Turn right (North) onto Williams Lake Rd. Follow for about a half mile till you see the main entrance on the left side of the road, you'll need to make a Michigan Left (in the turn around) and go in the main entrance. Once past the ranger booth, turn Right and head for the farthest corner of the large beach parking lot, this is the West Shelter Parking area. The trailhead is located in this corner, along with adn outhouse and in teh summer an open bathroom and running water.
